Scott Pilgrim is a 23-year-old that falls madly in love with Ramona Flowers, the new girl in town. Seems pretty typical so far… until it turns out that Scott must defeat her 7 evil ex-boyfriends if he want to win her heart. Again, still kinda typical… until you throw Sub-space travel, power-ups, experience points, 1-ups, and end battle spoils. Now this is what I’m talking about.

The Scott Pilgrim series delivers a witty mix of romance, action, and nerdyness not typically found in many graphic novels. One panel will depict a normal stroll down the street while the next will be an epic battle with a telekinetic vegan or super powered rock band with Scott receiving a 1-up or bus fare in coins or unlocking achievements. If your a gamer you’re gonna love all the video game references. For everyone else, there’s enough sillyness going around that you just can’t put the books down. You just have to turn the page to keep seeing what’s gonna happen next.

I’ve had a blast reading through the series and can’t wait for the exciting final volume in July and I would highly recommend that everyone picks it up. Scott Pilgrim is a 6 Volume series and will be translated into a feature film from Universal Studios and video game from Ubisoft in mid August.
